Kochi has traded across the water for five centuries, and its homes still carry a port city's ease with the world. Contemporary lines sit comfortably over Kerala's deep carpentry tradition: wood everywhere and handled beautifully, cane for the humid air, brass that recalls temple and trade at once.

Living rooms and bedrooms get equal care here, because the day is lived in both, and the kitchen is never an afterthought in a state that takes eating seriously. The light is monsoon light, generous and grey-green, and the best interiors let it in and then get out of its way.
